Default Streaming Topeka KSICS

FYI- I am now streaming the Topeka KSICS tower via my 996T on RR in the Live Audio area.

I was amazed at how easy it was to set up a streaming scanner- the software is available free at

Ham Radio Station K1PGV

I would love to see more Kansas areas streaming- especially KC Metro and Johnson County.

I would appreciate any feedback about the KSICS feed. What TGs would you like to hear? Would you prefer that the scanner run in "open" mode, which listens to ALL radio traffic on the tower- regardless of TG, or should I limit the traffic to public safety TGs?

KAA951.....i take it that must be our old lowband call letters...? I think running it in the open mode would be interesting EXCEPT for the DOT talkgroups. The open mode would be a good thing because youd probably catch stray agencies passing thru once in a while. The DOT talkgroups would tie up the radio and youd probably miss the more important traffic. I run my PRO-96 here at home in the open mode but have just locked all the DOT stuff out. If you do run with it closed...Id leave all the Troop B talkgroups in it because youd get guys from all over the Troop coming into town. And the national guard groups are interesting during storms. How many towers are you able to hear from your house? Maybe putting a second tower like douglas or wabaunsee would result in it being more active. Just my two cents...or three..

I see most all Crawford Co and Labatte County are comming on board state system, as of tonight I still hear both on the VHF system. I hear possibly that Neosho Co and Chanute PD are going to another system ???? according to newspaper. Did not say what !

Once I get the shack settled and things cleaned back up I will try to get something setup.

KAA-951, KAA_471, KAP-259, KJE-260, KFZ-915........

Ah yes.... the good ole days when we could heard almost any agency in Kansas with a ten channel scanner.

Nice feed! Great to be able to listen at work when I don't have access to my scanner.

I can hear the KSICS towers in Topeka, Eskridge, Corning and Blue Rapids from my house on my PSR500. I monitor most all the talkgroups except KDOT. I have a separate scan list for them and usually listen only during the snowstorms. KDEM has some interesting traffic during severe weather and now there are several counties trying out their new P25 radios, so I hear the "testing to see how it sounds". Lately I have heard Troop H north and south dispatch on the Eskridge tower. I guess my opinion is open up everything except maybe KDOT. Other talkgroups, such as KW&P are still open for discussion. :-D

I cant believe that you cant hear the pottawatomie county tower if youre able to hear all those towers. Do you actually scan all these towers? I find on mine if I try to scan more than a couple towers I miss quite a bit of traffic. Im using a radio shack pro-96 though.

Yes, I'm sure I miss a few transmissions, but if I hear something interesting I just hold on that talkgroup. Also listen to SNCO trunked system and several conventional frequencies in various counties. I live on a nice hill and don't even need to use an outside antenna. The PSR500 works great on P25 with multiple towers.

Default Sounds great

It sounds great on here. I found that there was hardly a delay the other day when I was testing my State Interop Radio.
