Johnson County 700 MHz TRS

I see that the FCC issued two licenses for Johnson County's new 700 MHz, Project 25 TRS. I have heard two trains of thought about this new simulcast system. First is that it will be part of KSICS TRS. Second, is that it will be a stand alone system. Does anyone in the know have a better idea of which way this system will go?

Standalone. JOCO purchased the new system, thus it has no affiliation with KSICS. Also I noticed the frequencies you originally posted were off as far as the steps are concerned (perhaps someone used a spreadsheet that rounded up the end numbers).

My understanding is that this is a separate TRS, however the system controller will (eventually) be linked to the system controllers on the Independence MO 700 system, future KCMO system and KSICS for seamless interoperability.

Never say never in the world of pubic safety. it may start out as a stand alone TRS but it could be part of the State's TRS a few years down the road as it grows. look to CO Springs TRS as a good starting point. it was moved into the DTRS this year after being a stand alone when it started.

I wonder if this is a single site test run. I can barely get it outside of Jo. Co. Can anyone confirm if it's emenating from multiple simultaneous locations.

I can't imagine this is the type of system power we will be seeing, or I sure hope not.

Pure speculation, but it seems as though they're only testing one of the southern towers at this point. I was running around JOCO yesterday, and got a very weak control channel hit in the Westwood area. By the time we got over to 103rd & Quivira, it was showing 99%.

Yesterday I heard the control channel audio and had full signal strength bars when I was out in Southern JOCO. Negative on talkgroup activity.

As of 07:20 A.M. this morning , there was quite a bit of radio traffic on talkgroup 30143.
But , what I'm receiving sounds like either Digital-Breakup , or Encryption.
Unfortunately my Pro-106 doesn't tell me when a talkgroup is encrypted , and not having heard Digital Encryption before , I dont know what it sounds like.
This system isn't gonna be mostly encrypted is it ? I hope not...............
