Thats my doing. I saw the wildcard hit on the scanner and heard a pilot identify himself as "LifeWatch ?? in route to Wesley". Scanner has since logged 36 hits on the Wichita Freq's and a couple on Butler Simulcast. I will set an alert on the scanner so I can pay attention the next time it is used and send an update to the database.
Maybe it was just an old timer who forgot who he worked for. Or... Maybe its the talkgroup of Christmas past??

I get the one person encrypted the other is not situation. I hear that a lot with the game wardens & Scott County because the dispatcher is that way. Lane County Sheriff main dispatch is 100% encrypted. I am hearing words or entire sentences some of the time. I know it is them as I am seeing the talk group ID number pop up on the scanner. I'm not hearing 100% of the conversation in the clear, but I am hearing some of it. The best way to explian it is this, They push the button to talk they start talking encrypted then I hear a couple of word that are in the clear, then encrypted again then maybe an entire sentence is in the clear, then encrypted then they let up on the button.

Wesley Medical Center - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Under transport team, it shows that LifeWatch contracts with Eagle Med to do Wesley's neonatal transfers, so the 682 talkgroup is probably legit.

LifeWatch is still a licensed ambulance service.
The talk group could be part of the new talk groups assigned for helicopters for use when contacting Wesley and St Francis. Since LifeWatch is part of Wesley it is possible that they are using the talk group for ground transport as well.
A plan is in place to replace the UHF Med Channels in Wichita with the above mentioned talk groups and by utilizing the KSICS designated Med Channel. Other areas are planning to replace the UHF Med channel with a talk group since the clock is ticking on the narrowbanding issue.

I've never had a problem with simulcast off of the Bonner Tower with my Pro-106.
Well , this morning I was in Bonner Springs about a 1/2 a mile from the Bonner Tower , and every other transmission was unintelligible garble, The dispatcher would be loud & clear , then she'd unkey the mike , and when she'd rekey , you couldn't understand a word.
BUT , the scanner was getting FULL-Signal.
Sure takes the fun out of it , that's for sure.........

Now it looks like something is happening in Shawnee County. Several different times I have heard no traffice on the Topeka/Shawnee County frequencies in the day and then I start hearing them at night. I'm not sure what is going on there.

They just starting using one of the rebanded channels as a control channel. Add 854.3125 to your scan list.

The systems engineer for shawnee county, and his assistant are friends of mine. They gave me all of the rebanded freqs. Of course the information is in the public domain. I also have the rebanded freqs for Douglas county, if anyone wants either let me know. Unfortunately my 250D cannot accept them. I have several base scanners that would, but only as long as they stay analog. It is such a chore to re-program them for me that I decided to buy a new portable, and sell the 6 scanners I have in another part of the country that is still analog. I cannot decide which portable to buy, but it must be one that I can program with my computer. I am looking at the Uniden, GRE, AOR and others. If anyone has an idea as to which one would be best I would welcome it.

I don't think the AOR will work.
So your choice is between Uniden & GRE / Radio Shack.
Good Luck on your decision..........

I have the GRE PSR 500 hand held. I live in western Kansas about in the middle of the state. I hear from I-70 all the way to the Oklahoma border I listen to KHP, Fish & Game. As well as a lot of local stuff with in a 50 mile radius of me.I think it recieves better then my radio shack base that I also have. If I had it to do over again I would get 2 GRE PSR 500 's. When I took it to Wichita it worked flawlessly on the road and in the big city with just the factor rubber duck antena.

I have the Radio Shack Pro-106 , which is essentially the same radio as the PSR 500,
and it does really well on KSICS too.
I just wish it was the size of the Uniden 396xt..........

It was mentioned in another thread but many recommend the Uniden XT models for their ability to receive simulcast P25 and I have to agree. With Shawnee county going to that and Douglas county not far behind I think you should consider them.

Actually the Uniden 396xlt and the GRE 500 are the two I am going to choose from. Either must have the ability to be programmed by computer program.

KS Deputy,
The Pro-106 (RS version of the GRE-PSR500) is on sale for $379.99 until Saturday. Check your local store for instant gratification....

The elevation of the Olathe tower and the topography makes that tower about 100ft taller than the Mission one. I was at 78th and State Ave. today and was listening to both. Both came in fine. The Olathe tower got like 5 bars on the 996T. The Mission was like 2 to 4.

KHP in Wyandotte and Johnson Counties is primarily being dispatched off the Johnson County P25 "MARRS" System, and dispatch is only being rebroadcasted on the KCK talkgroup.
