I found a new CC today not related to KSICS. It is a 9600 P25 CC channel. I'm using Unitrunker to try to get some info.

System ID: 577
WACN: 91FC2
RFSS: 1
Site ID: 1

Active CC Frequency: 855.2875

Band Plan :
Base: 809.0625
Lo LCN: 00-0000
Hi LCN: 00-4095

No other info is available. No radio affiliation. Could this be related to Sedgwick County's new P25 system?

855.2875 is licensed to Sedgwick County, so I'd say you probably found their new system.

Is Unitrunker reporting other frequencies? Should show the alternate control channels. Also take a look at the Info tab on the site window and see if it says P1 or P2 in the Channel Access field, as well as what it says for the NAC field.

Phase 1 channel access. No alternate control channels listed.

The system was given the P25 Phase 2 classification because the sites are licensed for it (9K80D7W)<--H-DQPSK. H-DQPSK is used for simulcasting P25 two slot TDMA. The system is also licensed for 8K70D1W, which is an emission designator used for LSM (CQPSK).

New Site! Lots of What if's

Interesting if this System goes Live in October or November as I'v heard in the Grape Vine and the GRE Radio is the only one that can Track it) This will i Imagine entice one's that Live in the Area of the Airwaves to want the Development of What ever Radio that Uninden is going to send out it's Doors to include TDMA type 2

I know one Tv Station over in Wichita has 4 or 5 Scanners and you can clearly see them on the there Counter) I'm sure they would like to get there hands on a Scanner that will Follow this System.. So they can here what's going on..

You can still track this system with current P25 scanners, but only FDMA voice traffic. I'm patiently waiting on Uniden to announce any new models.

Boating with Scanner's Now that would be a catchy new Jingle) But getting back on Topic did you say it is possible to Follow this type of System with the Current Uniden's is that i'm assuming Fire Dept Traffic ? Or is it the GRE PSR-800 the only one that could. follow all Traffic

That GRE is some little Radio it's sad the company had to Go as it Did

Uniden scanners are unable to decode any P25 TDMA traffic. The current P25 scanners will, however, be able to decode FDMA voice traffic, like they are able to do now. Also, just because the system is licensed for the emission I listed (HDQPSK), doesn't mean it will be using it. Phase 2 systems are required to be backwards compatible with Phase 1 equipment.

Sedgwick County put out a bid last year for new radio equipment. The radios they have now could theoretically work with the new system. Motorola radios are obviously used on their current system. If they wanted to use their current radios, they would all have to be upgraded to support 9600 trunking unless they already have been flashed for it. Back to the bid, they only required radios to "Meet APCO minimum recommendations and EIA/TIA standards for Project-25 Phase 1 Public Safety 700/800 MHz trunked radio systems." This means that they didn't specifically want P25 Phase 2 subscribers. They also referred to the system as Phase 1 in that bid.

Well maybe they'll make it were we can Listen to Traffic i Know the officers use Common allot to discuss things in further detail.. The officers here in our Co. have Tac channel's they could utilize but i don't think they use them or i haven't heard them on the channels since i got my radio)

But i'v always Like listen to Sedgwick Co. and the Area officers on the 800 my First Trunking Radio that i could follow & Listen to them well on was BC235 then i shortly stepped up to the 245 to follow both the Motorola / Edac's trunking my BC780 was the first radio that i had that allowed me to set Alpha Tags and then I Got a BC296 which i Loved but i hated that Scroll Wheel it Went to Crap in Just a Few Months of owning that Radio

I wanted to Add: I was really surprised to see the BCD996's in the Local Radio Shacks @ one time i though the only way one could get a 996 was Ordering but i checked by phone at a Few of them and they had a lest two Units on Hand.. And i can't wait :D i only have a Few hours and i will have my new 996

"Sedgwick County, Kansas selected the Viking radios as replacements for their legacy subscribers to complete their P25 upgrade. The Viking radios meet the needs of both their public safety users as well as their public works agencies by offering a cost effective solution with advanced capabilities. With EFJohnson's Armada™ Fleet Management Software, they are also now able to quickly and efficiently configure their entire fleet of Viking radios."

The EFJohnson Viking radios are P25 Phase-2 compliant.

Well, they are either "testing" different control channels to see which one gives the best results, or they are regularly rotating the control channel the way they do on the current analog system. Today I'm hearing the control channel on 857.96250 and the CW ID is in 855.28750. I've got it running under Pro96com to get as many tech details as possible on it. No traffic that I've noticed yet though.....

I'm just hoping or was hoping  I could monitor it with my 996 but it kind of sounds Un-Likely maybe i'm miss-understanding how the system works but i might have to revert back my Cellphone.. not something i wanted to do. :(

But I guess as the Weeks pass on We'll Learn More about it.. Ra
