Thought y'all might like to see what lightning can do to a public safety antenna....this is our Fire/EMS antenna that until today was at 300' on a cell tower NW of Newton. It is a DB224 VHF. Note the 2 melted holes in the dipole, the pointed cap on the end of the main mast didn't look much better. I wish I had taken pictures of the guts of our tower light a few months ago...melted (nearly vaporized) terminal strips! New antenna and coax = much better performance!!!
