Default Derby & Thunder 2009 Frequncies/Activity

It's that time of year, KY Derby is coming, Churchill is in "season" and Thunder airshow is April 18th

I have not been listening, but RCS Indiana made some changes to users radios and I believe Fleet Maps, I'm wondering if RCS Kentucky did the same.

I believe Thunder and Derby will be a real-time test of the New Metro system.
We probably need a wiki on both these events to make it easier to search out past frequencies and new ones being found.

If someone who has a file from last year's Thunder will submit it or e-mail it to me I will set-up an Agency page in the Jefferson County Data Base to act as a seed for the local freqs. I only have the stuff I have harvested from the forum since I haven't been able to attend in a number of years, but will use that as a start.

It is a start, the listing at Thunder Over Louisville, within the Jefferson County data base.... but it is, hopefully, a start. Looking for freqs that are used for Thunder and not found in the listings for the nearby airports, will try to add these as quickly as possible during the days leading up to Thunder so the whole thing can be downloaded the night before...

Here's my Louisville File for Win500
VHF aero is messed up and needs fixing and checking for accuracy.
UC, the one I sent by email was wrong in the fleet maps, this one I fixed, but did not update yet.

I should get some time to go out and play, though bad weather coming in.

Here's a list [tentative] of Aircraft scheduled to appear at thunder.
http://www.thunderoverlouisville.org...ircraft-09.pdf
Hopefully I'll get time to use Monitoring Times to make a preliminary frequency list.

Looking forward to my first thunder with a scanner. I live close to bowman and will easily be able to listen in to some good chatter, and perhaps will try to get a little closer to downtown. Hate the traffic though.
Thanks for the update newsalan!! Web site for the notam, 9/3480 NOTAM Details
Unfortunately I cannot key in exactly on 132.32 (Pro-106)for some reason, so will have to use 132.1666 or 132.325.

It's probably .325, for some reason the NOTAM didn't take or the 5 is a given on aircraft radios. Usually they don't even list the airboss frequency.

I also hate the traffic, but in-laws are coming down to go, so I guess I'm going...

Default Airboss activity

Got a little airboss activity on 132.325 at lunch. It is very sporadic at this point and they don't say much at all. But at least that is the right freq.

Yeah, it appears the airboss frequency is correct. I have got a few hits on that frequency this afternoon. In fact, I have had a few fighters pass over the house down here in Meade County. I remember last year seeing them come all the way out here and then head back to the box. Kinda cool to see them before seeing them again on TV or vice-versa.

Please remember to submit freqs as you get them... I can't listen much this year because of other obligations....

Any hits on the UHF air boss frequencies, or any searching going on for a new one.
The VHF one was taken from NOTAM, so it is accurate.

I got a 3 second hit on 306.2 earlier today, couldn't catch what they were saying.
Dropped by bowman earlier today, something that is highly recommended. The T-34 Lima Lima, Lucas oil Pitts, along with some chinooks and apaches were all there. Great to see. Lucas oil went up and was great fun. I think it was the L-39 albatross that did a really low and super fast fly-by that was spectacular but i'm not totally sure.
That is going to be my thunder for this year. Look forward to scanning from the sidelines tomorrow.
From bowman you could see the preview for the Heritage flight that was over the river, but I couldn't get any of their comms traffic other than the airboss freq.

Here is a generic air show file, with Louisville local frequencies.
It is in excel format, compressed.

Might be one or two duplicates I missed, I also neglected to put in Henryville ARTCC and Clarksville airports, but should not be a factor.

It should catch most if not all of the action.
