Shawn, we don't really have anyone trying to log the Forest Service folks if you'd like to take on that task... Anything you could add would be an awesome contribution to rr.com... I monitor when I am in or near the DBNF but they are too far away to monitor routinely from my listening post-there is a tower in Winchester, but I it is tuned so it covers to the east and south, away from me. (I have a .p500 VScanner loaded with the local freqs for Boone Forest and Big South Fork and switch to it when I am in the area, will send it your way if you'd like).

Let me do some other work here and I'll send it to you... if you are using WIN500 it is really easy to get it into the radio... open the Virtual Scanner Line under the Scanner item on the Navigation Bar at the top... tick the box where you want the new VScanner stored and then Commit... and it loads there. To get it into the Main Memory of the scanner press Manual (to stop the scanning), then PGM-FUNC-PGM (to put you into the VScanner Mode)...Press F2 (STOR) and store your Active Load into one of the empty VScanner slots (use the Up and Down Arrows on the Five-Way to scroll thru the slots).... Press F3 (STOR) and confirm you want to overwrite what is there and confirm the name for the VScanner, a second or so later it is stored.... then Press F1 (CANCL), then F1 (LOAD) and scroll to the new VScanner you want to load and follow the prompts... when everything is loaded press scan, it reboots and you are scanning away.... (if you find any mistakes in my load let me know...)

You might be in the same boat I am... Just close enough to be too far away... Maybe you can hear them while you are mobile (that's my only hope usually). I sent the files to you in yahoo, if you didn't get them send me an email address to unitcharlie@radioreference.com....

I live in the Daniel National Forest, and I haven't heard anything on the 171.525 in years.
Been at least 7 or 8. They would some times run checks threw the local P.D. here, and I haven't even heard that from them.
If anyone come up with anything on it I sure would like to know about it.
