Smile Never heard this before!

The band opening this morning is phenomenal.... and so is the reponse fomr at least one dispatcher. About 0305 a call came across Lexington PD Ch. 2 (154.825/141.3 PL).... "41533, it is a theft...." Lexington's dispatcher on Ch. 2 answered.... 41533 came back on a little later advising the perp apparently took a carton of cigarettes.... and the Lexington Dispatcher tried to engage him again asking for a location.... then someone spoiled the fun advising Dispatch that this was skip from some where.... I'm thinking it is Camden County (Missouri) Sheriff.... they operate on the input freq for Lexington's Ch. 2 (155.565)....

UHF was wide open also. I was picking up another station on the KSP Post 16 (Henderson) "B" channel (460.4375) that was using a DCS of 023. It was so strong that it was causing them some intermittent communications problems on that frequency. Heard the dispatcher and a trooper discussing it on their "A" channel. (453.600).

Lexington PD Ch. 3 moved to Ch. 2 tonight due to bleed over from another agency. I heard something about a vehicle on County Rd 500.

Only thing i am having a hard time Believing is the Mileage. I Searched the FCC Database and Found this:

on 155.5650 there are 7 in the State of KY 1 being Lexington, 11 in the State on Indiana, 19 in the State of Ohio, and 5 in the State of West Virginia

on 154.8450 there are 5 in the State of KY 1 Being Lexington, 9 in the State of Indiana, 19 in the State of Ohio, and 12 in the State of West Virginia

I noticed the County you was thinking of it being UnitCharlie is partially Encrypted not sure on their Tower Construction so if it was them indeed that would be the only way i could think they made it into this area

The Mileage would have been approx 573 miles from there to here

I wasn't listening last night (trying to ID more info on the KYEM system and listening to CAP and Aircraft band) 'cause the scanner was dead and on the charger.... the morning I posted there were other transmissions that led me to Camden County, including a fone number to a local towing company... the opening was phenomenal that morning, I was monitoring Control Channels on the SAFE-T System from towers in Western Indiana and a request for mutual aid in a search in Warrick County, Indiana.... All the while explaining that the dispatches being heard in the newsroom weren't from our area....

Last night may have been due to the Perseids ... Although usually CW and SSB this may cause some more occurances in the next week. Further on this bouncing of signals can be found by clicking here.

Tonight i have been experiencing what you experienced. Listening to my Feed of 3 Channels i have been getting numerous Transmissions from all over the place. One Said Carroll County EMS but when i checked Carroll County they were not even near my Freq range. Could Persieds Cause a Freq to bleed over onto another freq?

When I was downtown working we would pickup fire chatter from Lexington Fire on County Fire 2....Used to listen to the EC units go on runs. There are times when the ducting is just right you can hear for hundreds of miles. Radio Techs used to tick us off back in the day when the response to messed up radios was defined as sun spots....
