Default Jefferson County Breaking News

Slap me 10 times with a wet noodle if there is another thread for this kind of stuff, but I could not find it.

Some idjut is holed up in a J-Town business with a gun. They are running tones on the j town freq
at 460.3 with shockingly little to say. Heard the filler news on whas.

The wife of the owner of the business is on her way.
Metro swat is in position

So get those rubber necks out. We got some scanning to do. Or by the time I post this they will cancel the tones.

The police chopper is being referred to as AIR 20. I guess its a police copter.

Talking about traffic backing up on plantside drive.

metro swat apparently has controlled the perimeter.
no resolution other than that.

I was lucky I was listening to my 106 when it was dispatched, guy shot himself and died this morning. It was a long standoff. Very interesting listening.

I was off that day and haven't been on here in a while. Most of the traffic was surprisingly on LMPD F-3....The HNT was saying a while lot of stuff on the air that they used to not say. I was at the house listening to it all and wishing I was at work...

Oh well...another day another $.50

Default Meth Lab Explosion near Radcliff

Well this did not happen in Jeff Co. but 3 Lifecom helicopters were up in the air evacuating several people with pretty serious burns.
KY6 KY7 KY8 took patients to UofL hospital and all of this could be heard on 155.4

One of these copters could have been taking people from a car accident on highway 480 in Bullitt Co. This was all going on at the same time and it was difficult to keep track of who was carrying who.

Lifecom patched up the helicopter pilot with the hospital so all of this traffic occurred on the same freq.

There was kind of a traffic jam at the helipad at UofL Hospital.

KY7 down and secure at Bowman at 4:57am

If the pilot says he has 4 souls on board, I am assuming that means 4 patients. The other helicopter said they had 3, and I didn't catch the 3rd helicopter. Thats at least 7 people.

What an incredibly professional group of people. That was impressive.

All of those resources devoted to a bunch of meth heads. What a waste. (steps down from soapbox)

Four souls on board means there are four people.... the usual flight crew is Pilot, Flight Nurse and Flight Paramedic... so four souls would be the full flight crew and a patient. They will also sometimes fly a patient with the Pilot and Flight Nurse or Flight Paramedic depending upon the situation which would account for three souls...

Thanks for the info unitcharlie. That would make more sense. The original call was for 2 burn patients but with all the action it was hard to keep it all straight.

4 souls on board. I wonder where that phrase comes from. Is that pilot speak? Or what.

That was on of the best scanner gets I have had. It all went pretty much like clockwork. From Bowman, out to the Hardin Co. Hospital, to the hospital in Louisville. The dispatch, the group of helicopter pilots, to all the medical staff.

Hope everyone rescued will recover and that they get a nice present from the state.

As with so many things aeronautical it came from the nautical past.... That's also where we get port, starboard, knots (as a speed indication), the color of running lights, etc.... souls refers to all persons aboard without making the distinction between officers, crew, pax, etc... I've been a medevac freak for many years and have a bunch of them programmed into my scanners... Kentucky is blessed with a bunch of good folks flying around in choppers saving lives... The Association of Air Medical Services has .pdf files showing the ten minute fly circles for each medevac service in the country... this is KENTUCKY's file....
