They are having radio problems, took a direct lightening hit on old dispatch center and it was down for about 20 minutes... Urban dispatch back up.
Good news lots of agencies were training, EMS, FD, and I guess dispatch in classes so they do have plenty of personnel on duty.
Government expects problems to last through tomorrow. Should be interesting monitoring.

Jefferson County ARES is running a flood emergency net on N9TV repeater looking for reports of damage or requests for assistance.

Those poor radio techs were frantically trying to fix the radio system, they made the comment that they had a mountain of blown out controller boards they had to replace, they had them up and running pretty quick. They also thought of giving the dispatchers a Tech radio, so they can update them on the repair progress. they did a great job, they kept there cool, and was even cracking a few jokes at one another.

Just for an update. Lots of traffic on Mutual Aid channel 154.295 151.4PL
I have heard some swift water units on this channel. Also heard 'task force' units who were responding to a water rescue. Also, nothing heard on the Metrosafe Digital channels as of this time by me.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but dispatch did an awesome job with everything that went on that day. This was the only time I've ever had a radio, pager, and backup battery go down in 6 hours. We were on Sub. Fire 3, PRP Fire, and F-7 Mutial Aid channels.
