Alrighty, I can't for the life of me figure out how to sort/reorder the channels and zones. I'm on 2.01 of the software. Any help here?

No help here, just whishes and hopes.

And other news - you no need sort feature at all. Because if you are 3 letter agency, you need 1 zone with just a few channels. This is enought (and also - don't run scan!). But if you are ham operator, you no need this radio, because it's made for 3-letter agencies and other very huge clients who want only 1 channel. Or maybe 2 channels.

These things were clearly described above by some Kenwood dealer.

The work around is to use copy function and delete. You can copy insert where you want and delete source of copied item. sometimes you copy then paste list items out of the way so you can recopy/insert them where you want.

I may be overlooking something, or the feature simply doesn't exist. Has anyone found a way to get auto recordings stored onto the SD card to keep a rolling list of recordings (always record and delete the oldest when storage reached its max capacity?). I keep running into issues with the memory simply filling up and no longer recording.

(programming for the nx-5200 portable)

Will this one work for you?

Dang! I don't have that option. Assuming it is in the newer software versions in which I am waiting on. Glad to see it's there though.

About RF power output issue complained by a few other board members.

I've attentively measured VHF and UHF mobiles on different frequencies by using SiteMaster S331L, precision Bird attenuator and LAB grade SUHNER jumpers. After all corrections, like connectors and jumpers’ loss, I found no problems with power output.

VHF radio (50W in theory) is absolutely perfect (Freq - measured RF Power output):

136 - 50.14
145 - 49.71
155 - 49.79
174 - 51.03

UHF radio (45W in theory) provides a bit lower power output than it must:

380 - 41.75
425 - 41.52
450 - 42.62
470 - 43.04

But still not dramatically, just 7% below than specs. Not a big deal and can be adjusted through FPU if needed.

So, I can’t confirm the problem. I can suppose, that other members used low end equipment (like old non-calibrated power meters), jumpers with high loss (like made of RG-58 at UHF), don’t know how to take losses into account, etc.

Does the NX-5000 mobile series have the same talk permit tone on conventional as the TK-5720/5820?

Well I updated my firmware and software. This option still isn't there for me on the software.

I also can't seem to get my radio to recognize the 16gb SD card I have in the radio.... anyone help?

It must be there. Post all of your exact versions here.

16GB cards works just fine.

This may sound like a dumb question.. But just inserting an SD card doesn't activate the slot. You have to purchase the option on a per-radio basis. Have you purchased the option and unlocked the SD slot in that particular radio? If I'm not mistaken its option KWD-5002SD and list price is $105.00.

Why is it that the FleetSync ID list allows for 200 ID's but MDC-1200 only allows for 100? I know for previous Kenwood radios MDC has always been 100 but FleetSync was alway 100 as well. Any way Kenwood can increase the MDC ID list to 200?

They are all adjustable to the sizes that you need.

Click on any list (p-25 ID list, NXDN ID list,, MDC, Fleetsync, etc) and in the upper left hand corner you'll see a "list partition" option below the file button (not in the file menu).

From there you can adjust accordingly.

Any talks of Kenwood allowing all three digital protocols to be used at the same time (P25, DMR and NDXN). I understand you can only select two in the menu currently.

All I see is list number, the first list under MDC has 100 and if I go to list 2 it doesn't have any.

Disregard my last, I figured it out. Just out of curiosity is there a max amount of ID's the radio can hold?
