Default TK-250G programming cable

I have a TK-250G I am trying to program and am unable to get it to read. I am using the same cable as for a TK-260, typical 2 pin plug. Do these use a different cable? I assumed it was the same one. Does the radio have to go into a programming mode???? like the TK-730???

It is the same cable. You do have to put it in a programming mode. Hold down the button below the PTT and the LO key when you turn the radio on. The display should show "--PC--".

And if you haven't yet, you're better off starting your computer straight into DOS prompt. The KPG-23D program seems to work better that way. For some reason, Windows XP and Vista have a problem running it in a command prompt window.
