2170 programming help!

I have in front of me 2 kenwood tk 2170's
The "old" one is a 2170 -k 4 button
The "new" one is a 2170 -k2 with DTMF
I have no trouble at all reading the old radio using kpg-101d v1.01
I cannot, however get the new radio to read using the same software and same cable
The new radio has programming on it, and I need to add to it, so trying to re-write it is not an option
I get the check communication port error on the computer, but the radio says program on the screen
Any suggestions???

If your using an aftermarket cable, I have heard of them working like that. Some 2170's they work on, others they don't. Might try someone else's cable (if you know of someone) and see if theirs work.

I had a similar problem and was successful using kpg101d ver 2.
