TK-270 Problem Beeping

Hi, I have a Kenwood TK-270, it's worked great for years, but now when you push the PTT button it beeps, like a low battery, I have changed the battery 4 times but get the same thing, any ideas???? not sure if it is a low battery beep or not, it's a short beep, but makes it so the radio won't key up the repeater. please email me at jcraig42@nbnet.nb.ca thanks for any help at all
