Question Kenwood TK730 & tones - I need help

I am not a radio expert, actually i'm not even much of an amateur, but i need help with finding a radio that will work for our application. Any help would be appreciated.

We are in need of a radio that can be used as a base station, EMS use, that is capable of being opened by audible tones (two-tone system). We currently have one kenwood TK-790 but we now need another radio fora different dispatch center. My first question is will the Kenwood TK-730G be able to do this? Secondly, if it will not, how can i look at a radio spec and determine if it is capable?

Thank you all ofr your help.

The TK-730 will not do two-tone decode by itself. You will need to find the KDS-10 option board and software for the KDS-10. The board is very hard to find these days. The 30 series are great radios and certainly were used in public safety. However, if all you need is a base radio for monitoring dispatch you have other options from Kenwood. You can look for one of the older TK-760K radios. While not a public safety radio. They do have two tone decode as a standard feature. They are 32 channel radios that run about 25-30 Watts output power. Or look for a newer model Kenwood (current production). Something like a TK-7150, 7160 or 7180. All of these radios do two-tone decode w/o need for an option board.
