Default tk 380 question

a county officer has a radio that when you push the ptt button it beeps twice , ( not broadcasting on the channel , but through the radio speaker itself ) on every channel .

he says it does it since the dealer put a radio identify id option on it.
any way to cut this beep beep off ?

thanks for any help ! mike b.

I forget what it is called but it is there to let you know you have hit the repeater. I believe it was a courtesy tone of sorts, I could be wrong. It may also be for the system to see your ID at the dispatch console. Anyway, the only way to disable it is through the use of programming software. KPG-49D I believe is the software. I used to have a couple of 380s. Wish I had kept them...

Default Still baffled

i have the software , i think it has something to do with the id system for the radio , i am used to programming kenwoods but have never run into this before .

i blanked the frequencies out and installed some more and still get that beep beep when i key up .
anybody else got any ideas

as i said before he was on the swat team and his captain sent it to kenwood to put and identifier in it, and when it came back to him it did the beep beep everytime he keyed it up .

thanks for any help, mike b.

Unless you use a totally new file, it's not going to change the beep beep. Just blanking out the frequencies doesn't change any global options/features.
