Default TKR-750 Battery

Any suggestions on buying a backup battery for a TKR-750? Should I just run to the local auto parts store and buy a marine type battery or look for something else? I know they make "ups" batteries but are they really any different than a deep cycle marine battery?

Thanks

Any batter would work, depending on the application. A UPS battery is just a sealed lead acid deep cycle battery and any battery of that type would work. If your repeater is in a building you should use a sealed battery.

You get what you pay for. Just don.t use an automotive "starting" battery. Plates are thin and will fail
when least expect them to.

BTW. Setting a jumper in the TKR will provide a trickle charge to keep a battery topped off. It's not enough, though, to charge a battery that is well discharged.

you can find ups on sale for pretty cheap sometimes at Best Buy or online....sometimes less than an automotive type batter and definatly cheaper than a marine-JOEYD
