Default Tk-2140 cuts off?

Can't figure this one out, when I depress the mic the radio cuts off...this one has me puzzled. Any Ideas? Battery is fully charged. HELP!!

What do you mean by "cuts off". Is it powering off, and right back on? Does it try to TX and then beep but stay on? Have you tried another battery? My first guess would be it is a bad battery.

Are you getting a low battery icon? The early versions of the TK-x140's had an issue where a small restior by the display board would get damaged by the display shield if the radio was dropped or sat on. IIRC this would give the radio the impression the battery was low. I have not seen one with that problem for some time though. Kenwood put out an FSB/SRN and changed the shield so it would not make contact with the resistor.

Jim, haven't thought about maybe a faulty cell in the battery...yeah it powers off and then comes back on, when trying to TX. And no, it still shows full battery icon, which is why I never suspected the battery.

ok new battery here, and it works again...guess this was a faulty battery issue
