Default TK-3140 help

Greeting all. I am sorry if this is posted in the wrong spot but I have searched every where and cannot find an answer to my question.

I have a kenwood tk-3140 I scored off Ebay for a great deal.
I have the software and cable that were included.
I entered in the channels and such to program the radio.
It writes successfully.

Problem is that when I turn off the radio and power it back on, it has a bunch of y letters with dots on top of them and they do not allow me to do anything with the radio.

Did I do something wrong or am I missing something here? Is it the version of the software that is messing me up?
Software is Kenwood KPG-74d 1.11v
Version 2 on radio

Could I put 1.11v back onto the radio? Or, where could I get a new 2.1 without having to pay for it again?

Thanks very much!

Try LCDSET.EXE, it may have had the LCD swapped, and some needed new drivers.

It is more likely that some one did change the LCD and did not get it seated correctly. The LCD has a very fine rubber like membrane that if not set just right you do not get correct information on display.

I know from experance.

The screen operates fine until I turn the radio off and disconnect it.
