Default Kenwood TK2360 Compatability

The current system is all Kenwood with mostly TK2360 handhelds. A few people have HT1250s and I would like to tie their radios into the system. I have the frequency and PL tone. If I program that information into the HT1250s, will they be able to transmit over the system or will everyone need a Kenwood radio?

The system is pretty simple. 2 base stations, just basic talking... The base stations do display a custom set radio ID, but other than that, no other features are used.

Thank you!

Sure you can use a Motorola Radio.
What type of radio IDs are you using? You wont be able to use the fleet sync but you can use the MDC1200 ids on both Motorola and Kenwood

I actually don't know. I didn't originally setup the system. The radio IDs are nice, but it's not something that we really need, so I'm fine without it. I just need to make sure they will transmit over the system. Thank you!

The simple answer is yes, the HT1250's will work with the Kenwoods,(Icom, Vertex, etc), BUT here is the catch.

What type of system do you have? If it is a trunked and or digital, then no the 1250's will not work.

If you have a basic convental system then you are good to go.

Thanks for your help. It's a standard conventional system with a frequency in the 460s and a CTCSS tone.

If your system is UHF then a TK-2360 will not work- that's a VHF radio, are you sure you don't mean a TK-3360?
