Default Scanner Feed Software

In the process of setting a feed up, but unable to do so because the software is only for PC.

My question is, is there software that will work on Mac or will we Mac users be left out?

Thanks,
Colby

To provide a feed using a Mac you'll need to purchase a copy of Nicecast from Rogue Amoeba | Nicecast: Broadcast any audio on Mac OS X , I know of no free alternatives.

Just wondering what information I need to get my feed online using Nicecast.

Nicecast has been downloaded, but I am unaware of how to link it to RR.

Any info from Lindsay or Gordon would be great, thanks.

To start out you'll need to apply to be a feed provider, you can do that by clicking on "Account" at the top of the page, then on "My Live Audio Feeds", and then on the "Apply to broadcast a feed" button. After your feed is approved I'll provide you with the settings you'll need to enter into Nicecast, they're different for each feed.

If your refering to the zip file in the owners page thats a copy of the file used to install the streaming software for your particular feed. If you have more than one feed each feed will have its own copy. Its only needed if you have not set up your feed yet.

Or if your computer crashes and you need to set the software back up on that PC or another PC. The installation package is the same as what you used to set your feed up with before.

Just FYI - but now on your feed owners page we're including the advanced technical details for those that want to setup their own broadcast clients.

Warm regards,

I am considering running "ScannerCast" Is there any SPECIFIC Step by Step info on how to set this up for SA/RR?

Soon ScannerCast will be the software that is distributed to feed providers instead of Oddcast. The author of ScannerCast is working on making some changes so that it'll configure itself to provide your feed for you after prompting you for your RadioReference.com username and password.

One restriction with ScannerCast is that it cannot be used to provide a stereo feed which means you probably won't want to use it.

If anyone does want to use ScannerCast (you can get it from Ham Radio Station K1PGV ), configure it to encode your audio at 16kbps. To have it send your audio to RadioReference.com, click on the Advanced tab and then enter the information that is displayed at the bottom of the Feed Owner's page for your feed. You can find the Feed Owner's page for your feed by clicking on the Account link at the top of this page, then clicking on the My Live Audio Feeds link on the left side of the page, and then click on the Feed Owner icon for your feed.

just as a side note - the shoutcast daemon works well under mac os X. I played with it on 10.4 a while back and had no issues..

And... I'm pleased to note, those changes are complete.

Now, ScannerCast will automatically configure itself, if you give it your username and password. More details in this RR thread.
