Default Playback question

I downloaded the scanner archive feeds and am playing them back in Windows media player, everything works fine....But, during playback I would like to skip through the "dead air", meaning I would like to know what happened last night but I dont want to listen to the archive feed for 8 hours (ok actually 6 hours). Is thier a plug in or perhaps a player that I could buy / download to fast forward through the dead air space??
I am a subscriber to IPN network but they miss almost everything at night. BTW I am listning to Chicago fire department (main and englewood).
Thanks,
Greg

I download the archive files one at a time and open them with Audacity. You can then select the dead air and remove it. Works great for a free program.

Daniel,

Thanks for the quick reply, and thanks for helping us "technically challenged" people!
