Running My Own feed from another Server
Is it possible to have my feed on RR if i chose to host my own feed on another server besides RR?
I have found through friends that My feed gets dropped and reconnect a fair bit meaning losing my listeners. I don't know if its the connection in my house though at 10mb DSL, ScannerCast software or the RR server. Just know a few of my friends are getting a bit tired of it...
In the Scannercast Log isn't showing alot any suggestions?

I think its on RR end; I have it also happen daily on some days... My connection shows alot of the following:
Write to Icecast server failed Unable to write data to the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
Error status from Icecast (105): HTTP/1.0 403 Mountpoint
Connect to Icecast server audio1.radioreference.com/(**my mount point) failed: No such host is known
Then a few minutes later it connects no problem.
I provide two feeds and it doesnt do both at the same time so I know its not my BB connection, as one will show this while the other streams fine..

Brian, in looking at your feed stats, it appears that you actually take your feed offline during the night, so that might be the first source of the complaints. Second, your feed does appears to be sporadic at times when it is broadcasting. DSL can be notoriously flaky at times for connections that are at a long distance. It is possible that your DSL modem is resyncing a lot, which drops the connection.
We've got a lot of feeds, on the same receiver server, that have been online for months without a single drop from their end.
Keep an eye on your DSL connection.... if you can pull stats from your router it will tell you how many re-syncs it does during the day.
Hope this helps,

I have the same problem with a cable connection, although I do have to say COX has a horrible connection where I am located. I also notice the oddcast program freezes quite a bit, I'm wondering if this could be the cause of feeds going down.

This is getting really frustrating... My connection re-syncs 2 times per day one is at 3am when my feed is offline the other in the early afternoon. Not when i have issues either.. My issues is between the hours of 5pm to 10pm eastern.. Right now my feed is online but no one can listen to it but that has to be the DSL as well.. lol Lindsey send me a PM telling me how to send a relay of my feed to RR from a seperate server please...
Feed is now back again....

Back when I had SBC (now AT&T) DSL is was horrible! They couldn't maintain a constant connect for more than half a day if their life depended on it! Since doing away with DSL, and going to cable (Comcast in my area), drops are very rare.
DSL = Daily Syncs Likely

DSL is handled over telephone lines. Cable is handled over coax. The network infrastructure, and technology are different.

Not all cable ISP's are 100% either, but DSL has more issues in my experience. Some ISP's have been playing dirty to create havoc with home users running any type of servers. Comcast cable in my area started screwing with packets in an effort to disrupt bit torrent file transfers.
