THANKS! It's something I wish I could do more often, but not at the price of killer tornados. Thanks to all that listened! One of the tornados hit about 8 miles south of my location and had me a little nervous for awhile! My sympathies to all the families that lost loved ones tonight!

Default Great stuff thank you

The night of the LA Laker Win mayhem broke out on the streets of Los Angeles.
The LAPD Central division was all abuzz with police activity.
Unfortunately the central division is NOT one of the easiest for our system to receive. The Command Post was OK but the simplex units were hard to receive.
Anyway regardless of the weak reception there was a lot of interest to the tune of 2500 + listeners.
all I can say is WOW.
We received a $300.00 gift cert form Lindsay to use at Scanner Master.
We will use this reward to improve weak signal reception so that if this kind of event happens again we (you) will hear it better.
Enjoy the feed.
Thank you Lindsay!!

As indicated in the original post announcing these incentives, we reserve the right to change these feed provider incentives at any time.

I've edited the original post to reflect the new thresholds, however here they are summarized:

1) If a feed breaks the threshold of 750 concurrent listeners on a feed for any given time, the feed provider will receive a $50 gift certificate to Scanner Master.

2) If a feed breaks the threshold of 1000 concurrent listeners on a feed for any given time, the feed provider will receive a $75 gift certificate to Scanner Master.

3) If a feed breaks the threshold of 1500 concurrent listeners on a feed for any given time, the feed provider will receive a $200 gift certificate to Scanner Master

4) If a feed breaks the threshold of 2000 concurrent listeners on a feed for any given time, the feed provider will receive a $300 gift certificate to Scanner Master

The good news is we've already paid out over $500 in incentives since the announcement was made... so the program is working nicely!

Again, remember that the purpose of this change is to account for significant growth of our listener community. We obviously can't maintain a incentive plan that would pay out to numerous providers every day

Thanks,
Any it looks like we have another 750 concurrent listeners winner.

I think the LAPD feed might have broken 750 earlier today. It was right around there this afternoon, but I don't remember whether or not it got above 750 at any time.

What was the reason that LAPD broke 1,000 listeners on August 5th? I think I remember coming on that evening and seeing over 700 listeners and thought that was strange. I checked the LA news sites but no major stories or breaking news that I saw. I then refreshed the RR listeners page a few minutes later and it dropped back to its usual 90 to 100+ listeners. I thought it was just a RR stats error lol.

It was a chase dealing with a car jacking. They talked about a car jacking, victims etc. in the feed & in the archives.

The feed owner got an incentive award.

That was the incident where a guy walked into Southwest Division station, threatened the officers and took off. It led to about a 25 minute quite wild pursuit, where he was finally taken into custody after crashing.

- official website of THE LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT

LAPD is doing an internal investigation into some of the officers' tactics during the pursuit.
LAPD tactics in wild pursuit are under review - latimes.com

YouTube - LAPD pursuit in South L.A. police car chase

EDIT: While this link doesn't involve a vehicle pursuit, it's an example of the typical investigation of the officers' actions and results that the Police Commission (which oversees the department including the Chief) will eventually conduct and publish: http://lapdonline.org/assets/pdf/030...0Nuys-CUOF.pdf

Man, that was an insane veh pursuit. Thanks for posting the links Harry. I think 95% of the PD's in the US would terminate that pursuit, even if he did personally threaten a PO. Driving on business sidewalks in the middle of the day probably drives that up to 98% lol. But at least he was caught and no one killed thankfully.

Amazing amount of listeners considering it really wasn't that big of a fire (roughly 100 acres at the time), I think what boosted the listeners was that the fire could be seen in a very large area. Many tweets about seeing it 50-100 miles away. The most listeners i've seen since the Fort Hood shooting last year.

Looks like fire has exploded to 3,500 acres now, mass evacs in progress. Feed now at 3,600 listeners and growing as it appears this will be a big one now.

If a feed breaks the threshold of 750 concurrent listeners on a feed for any given time, the feed provider will receive a $50 gift certificate to Scanner Master.

The California feeds do this almost daily ....

RadioReference reserves the right to evaluate eligibility for an award based on technical issues, such as misbehaving audio clients or

"false/invalid listener counts."

Your kidding right? People actually do this?

"RadioReference reserves the right to change this incentive program at any time."

But you'll give notice ahead of time, correct?

Still its pretty cool - maybe for some of us which might break 30 listeners you could toss us a free Y adapter or something?
