"Foreground" = Fireground (typo)
DARS = Department Administrative Radio System
Like Tommy said, read the notes in the feed, the info is right there.

The other possibility is that the FDNY has decided to simulcast or cross patch the HTs through an on-scene repeater (in the Field Comm maybe?) to a channel that is available citywide.

The bravest is not sending any mobile computer to jobs as far as I know.
Recently, (past 6 months or so, I think) FDNY has been simulcasting major jobs (3rd alarms, etc) fireground audio over the doitt trunked radio system.

Fieldcomm and some divison cars such as division 3 have the equipment
So any all hands in the 3rd divison will be rebroadcast over event 6
Anytime fieldcomm shows up at a job. 2nd alarm and better plus a few others, they will rebroadcast
I have been told that they can use event 5 or 6. We also made the decision to broadcast the other dars feeds and not just fireground. They are active during special event's and can be used for rapid response taskforces, such as during the tornados in queens.

There is a new feed called fdny fire dars or Department Administrative Radio System.
This has the fireground rebroadcast and other trunked ops related to fire.
The 800 trs has better reception then the 400 system. Will play with that some.
This leaves me with 3 Kenwood tk840 and 2 maxtrac radios open.
Was planning on adding sod only to one of the maxtracs., buffs on the other.
Leaving the Kenwood for ems citywides and fdny scan. Just need to figure out how go setup scan on the kenwoods.
We have a very.nice setup. will take some photos

is the 800mhz system broadcasting the special events channels just like the uhf system is?
ie: would special events 6 be on the 800mhz system, because in the database its not listed as "special ev 6" or anything...

The NYC Appliance feeds sound good. Have you considered adding the NYC ems
divisions in the boroughs also?

Event channels on 800 are ems only. Don't think they have the fire ones setup.
As far as ems goes not sure what type of demand there would be.

Just an update on some of the FDNY Stuff.
Added EMS Dispatch for Manhattan. = South, Central and North dispatch channels
We split the feeds between two servers.
Mn Fire, Bx Fire, Qn Fire, Bk Fire, SI Fire, DARS are all on one server
Citywide Fire, EMS Citywide 1, EMS Citywide 2, Mn EMS, Fire Dispatch Scan are on another server.
Hope this helps to keep better up time. One of the problems we would run into is the USB port numbers changing. Was a pain to restart 10 feeds on one server.
Also have all new antenna jumpers and connectors ordered, and have plans to get a antenna multicoupler in the future, along with some new yagi antennas.
Year end goal is to remove the VHF dispatch radios and replace with UHF, which needs to happen before the end of the year.
Thanks to all who use the feeds.

It's been almost a year but here is an update.
All FDNY fire feeds moved to uhf scanners.
Added alpha tags to dars and multi boro scanner
Installed the multicopler for the antenna, however stilling working on a better antenna
Added an ems dars 800mhz radio
Waiting on a new rackmount monitor which has been ordered for the KVM switch,
Since hurricane sandy the feeds earned some incentives for scanner master. So we ordered a new uniden bct15x to replace the old scanner which didn't support tags
With all the power problems that night we decided to do some power upgrades
So we Installed a rackmount apc ups unit with new batteries and server control
Waiting on new battery for router and fios panel which is located remote
In the process of installing a transfer switch for the generator
We should end up with about a 15 to 20 minute up window to start the generator with out any effect on the feeds. We did manage to keep the feeds up during the hurricane , so just beefing things up.
We have four free radios now , so next step is a third server in another location , after the holidays.

Any chance of adding an NYPD Staten Island feed? I would be willing to donate a scanner.

I am pretty far from Staten island, only chance would be the other location with a roof antenna. I don't think we will be able to test until after the new year.
Want to replace the current roof antenna and install a 2nd antenna at that location. Just getting cold to do the outside work. 2nd Antenna just for the feeds as it would have to go to another location remote from the current scanners.

Ok, my offer of the scanner stands if the Staten Island NYPD feed is feasible from the second location.
