Audio is loud

My scanner has a headphone jack on the rear..i have it piped to my computers line input..the volume on the scanner is yalf way up..the volume in the pc is also halfway up..if i plug in ky headphones on the front of my pc..its very very loud...i know and feel like this should yave been easy. But i have had a difficult time with this.. thank you

Look at your audio mixer's settings. Under Options you will find Recording Settings. This is where you adjust the input sensitivity of the audio input jack(s). Adjust as appropriate to your desired audio and verify with a free program like "Digital Level Meter" by Paul Marshall from the UK.
