I have PRTG which is my network monitor software watching my feed and emails me when I hit X people and tells me if it's down and let me track my users over a long period of time.

This would take the cost of providing an additional service to your listeners out of your pocket and place it in theirs. If they don't feel it's worth contributing or paying the subscription fee they can just use the feed as it is now.

I was an IPN dispatcher and suggested this to IPN at one time and they strongly disapproved it.

I have this feature built into the BlackBerry, Android, and iPhone/iPad app's I've written for use in listening to RadioReference.com's scanner feeds.
You can have the apps alert you whenever any scanner feed has a certain number of listeners (to let you know when *any* scanner feed has a huge number of listeners) and you can also have the app's alert you when scanner feeds you specify have more than a certain number of listeners (you can specify different limits for each feed).
For example, I use the Android version of the app to have it alert me whenever any scanner feed has at least 1000 listeners and also have it alert me whenever the feed that covers the county I'm in (for which I provide the audio) has at least 50 listeners (since that's rare).
For information on the Android version of the app go to https://market.android.com/details?id=com.scannerradio, for information on the iPhone/iPad version go to http://itunes.com/apps/scannerradiodeluxe, and for information on the BlackBerry version go to http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/4668
Note: I *just* submitted an update to the iPhone/iPad version of the app which adds this functionality (via push notifications), I expect it to be approved by Apple around February 15th.

Do you mean I can get an email notification via your Android App (I have the Pro version)? I've gone through the notification/alert settings, but don't see an email option, only the display on screen. May just be my eyesight?

The update that is currently awaiting Apple's approval adds support for them.

Nope, notification is only through notifications in the notification tray.

Thank you. Either version of your app beats all the others by a country mile, IMO.

Gordon app looks good on the iPad. Not sure if it's possible or not, to listen to more then one stream at once. I think that would be a cool feature that many apps dont have.

Thanks!
It's not possible in the app at present and is something that would probably be difficult to add.
What you should be able to do is use my app to listen to one scanner feed and, while it's playing, use one of the other scanner apps that are available to listen to another feed.

FYI, version 1.1 was approved by Apple today, it contains the listener notifications support (via push notifications).

On my (Android) Samsung Tab I'm able to monitor two different feeds, one each, on Scanner Radio and Scanner Radio Pro simultaneously. I run into buffering issues at the start-up of the second feed, but it usually resolves within a minute or two. This is using my WiFi, I haven't tried it with 3G. At the moment I'm hearing the LAPD K9/Valley feed and Chicago PD. I can also add other feed apps but then buffering really becomes an issue.

Action Scanner will allow you to scan between up to 4 feeds at once
