SB event aftermath and some concerns
It all too apparent that RR/Broadcastify had one of its best days concerning audio feeds with the SB event in California until a hardware failure took down the system as Lindsay explained earlier. Indeed, RR/Broadcastify will “harden” the infrastructure and expand even to carry more listeners for the “next” big event.
However, I am concerned about the future of “Live Audio Feeds”. While watching network and cable TV during the SB event. Law enforcement requested “the press” to refrain and stop close up and zoomed aerial video of incident scene and using social media i.e. “Twitter” from texting any and all tactical movements of law enforcement. This was in order to protect law enforcement members, especially if the suspect was able to monitor activity via a smart phone etc. Common sense, I understand this.
Now being reported by media is recorded communications that reflect negatively on law enforcements handling of the incident especially in the final stages of yesterday’s event.
I realize RR/Broadcastify has the TOS as a form of protection and I am sure that RR/Broadcastify team has consulted with various legal advisers and or authorities on all of their options to protect this service.
My concern is it possible that during the next “big” event could authorities request RR/Broadcastify and or perhaps order the shut down of a single particular, or group of, or regional area feeds for the “protection” of persons responding to an incident?
Is it possible that for some big incident and for “National Internal Security” reasons have RR/Broadcastify to shut the whole live audio feed system down, for hours, days, weeks…forever?
Just a concern, comments welcome
Thanks for reading.
