Default Scanning streams - Ubuntu

My computer boots to Ubuntu 12.04, I like how Scanner live from skywatch services will scan the feeds like a real scanner, but I have to load a windows VM in order to use it. Does any one know of a software that can be used with Ubuntu to scan feeds in the same way?

Thank you
