Help finding a frequency?
Hello,
I talked to my cousin (who is a lieutenant for the monroe police department) to check out the frequencies I had to confirm them. He said that the 4 I have (channels 1-4) are correct, and that there is a 5th one that is a national frequency or something like that, that isn't used very much. He also said there is a 6th tactical frequency that the SWAT team mostly uses.
He said that none of the papers he had in their office had that frequency on it, and he said that he couldn't find anyone to give him the frequency (he said pretty much only the SWAT team knows the frequency).
So, does anyone know any other methods to go about finding this frequency? I have checked the FCC database, and the only ones in there under monroe PD are channels 1-4. Could it be named something else without any references to the city of monroe or public safety (as an attempt to hide it)?
I would try searching the VHF range (which is what they use), but I never hear anything about the SWAT team doing operations until later in the day when they are already done.
Also, the parish (ouachita) sheriffs department has a swat team along with west monroe pd, would it be likely that they use this same frequency? I think that because I don't see any other frequencies registered under their name either.
Thanks,
dustin

There are two [2] nationwide freqs, 155.445 and 155.475 Program those. Thats a good start. With programmable two-way radios the Radio Shop could have put in anything. Several years ago a local small town PD used the business band freq 151.625 freq as a secret freq until I found it. Good Luck

Thanks, I put in those two nationwide frequencies and I'll listen out for those. The business band occured to me, but I sort of shrugged it off because I was thinking business as in walmart, not business as in PD. That seems possible though, I'll search those also. Thanks again :)

they are probably illegally using unlicensed frequencies. It is not uncommon. They are the police, they can do no wrong.

I don't see 155.45 in any license. Is that a really old license or something?

Ahh ok I see it now. The phone # and address are for the airport here. I guess they could still use that one.

Don't be surprized, a small town local PD near me "Channel 2" is 467.7125, for those of you who don't know thats FRS channel 14. The police don't even know a four year old kid could talk if they had the right DPL. (023) It's free, why not use it?
