Submitted Talkgroups

I have been collecting talkgroups on the LWIN system. I believe that I have identified more than what is listed on this site. The problem is that I am not completely confident on the identification. There are probably others out there doing this as well. Since some of these could be wrong, I am debating on whether to add these talkgroups to the system since I don't want to mislead anyone.

Would adding these "guesses" help or hurt?

Contributing to the database in general is a wonderful thing. I too have helped out by contributing TGID's for the county that I reside in. While Ive been home, temporarily laid off from my employment, I have been able to wildcard hit many new talkgroups... I have been able to log them, and determine if they are confirmed groups pertaining to existing trunked systems. I strongly suggest that you do the best you can to confirm each and every one of them prior to posting. The more time you put into monitoring the system, the better your chances are for a true confirmation. I wish you continued success.

For the ones that you know the agency, or at least a rough knowlege, maybe placing them in the Talkgroup ID thread (a sticky in the LA forum) would be a better place.

I generally do not add assumptions to the DB... only absolute confirmed ones, though other DB admins do (I don't know what you do, though).

Or perhaps another idea is to add them to a special category at the bottom of the DB for unconfirmed TGs... I know there is some makeshift category down there right now, but perhaps a better organized subcategory would work.

Let me know what you prefer, so we are on the same page for updates.

Thanks guys. I was kind of on the fence on this one. I think it would be nice to add new group called "Unconfirmed" and get the word out on it's purpose. We could possibly rename the "unidentified" group. I might also be nice if we could make this a standard for the entire web site.

For now I will continue and add only the ones I am fairly certain about.
