Default reception issues

last night there was a major fire in chackbay...there was multi fire departments called out to the scene problem is chackbay is a rural area with other fire department trying to use their 700 mhz radios and couldn't hit the towers.....i think they need to erect a tower in either the thibodaux or the raceland area for better reception for chackbay and bayou boeuf fire departments

You are probably right.... All the "ville's" are pretty much surrounded by sites (St James, Gray, Berwick) but nothing to directly service the area.

I was talking to someone I know that works for Bayou Cane. I asked him if he new of a new tower going up in Assumption Parish area soon. He said from what he heard they are putting up a new one somewhere close to Hwy 90 area between Gibson and Gray. He mentioned that State Police was complaining of some dead spots somewheres in those areas. He said there were trying to fill some dead zones going out towards the Vacherie area from the Assumption area. I guess time will tell when and where they construct the new one. I will say I did see an eighteen wheeler headed in that direction on Hwy 90 hauling one of those prefab radio buildings that looks like the same ones that is used at the state tower sites.

Troopers would definitely be the first to know - Troop C has been using it for a while, and they travel heavily up in the Napoleonville area up and down Hwy 1. From what you found, they are at least aware of it, which is a good start.

I think they're finding out the 700 doesn't work like they were told it would buy the people selliing it and looking at it on paper.
Got to get out there on the road in the real world.

They need more towers.
