Default Question about the LWIN and RS PRO-106 Scanner

This is a couple of questions for the La folks that are using the Radio Shack PRO-106 scanner.

Are y'all able to put the entire LWIN on the scanner? And if so, what software and how?

I'm using the PsrEdit500 software and then downloading everything from there and I ran out of space on the LWIN and then looks like I ran out of space on the trunking apps. What gives?

Thanks,

Nick

I'm not LA but using PSREdit, selected all pri CC's and all 915 TGRP objects. This imported 32 CC's and 915 Tg's to one TSYS to scanlist 01. It also created a second TSYS with 19 frequencies and repeated the 915 TGRP Objects to scanlist 01. Total memory is 1850 blocks with 2 blocks available . None the less, you can't go over the blocks if you only have LWIN programmed using two TSYS objects. A third TSYS of LWIN would be a problem without rationing the TGRP Objects accordingly.

BTW. I sent the data to the scanner and it is running on the system. Then downloaded to Win500 then to ARC500 then to ScanControl with each software indicating 1830 TGRP Objects and 20 TSYS Objects leaving 2 Objects available.

You selected pri and alt controls for total frequency of 88 vs 51 for pri CC only selection. Your selection caused the import to create 3 TSYS instead of 2 TSYS. In the process, it also needed to create a third group of the 915 talkgroup objects to support the third TSYS. Your total blocks with the third TSYS is 2775 which is 923 blocks more then scanner max.

In my import using pri controls only, the total blocks used is 2 blocks short of scanner max, or 1850 of 1852 blocks available. Mine also created 2 TSYS of the 51 frequencies. 2 TSYS vs 3 is an additional saving of 10 blocks as each TSYS uses 10 blocks regardless of blocks used by TGRP Objects.

I'm in LA also, Pro 106/PSRedit also.

Selected all primary CC only, all LWIN & ran out. I de-selected certain agencies until I was within available file blocks. It created 2 TSYS for all of the CC Pri freq's.

In the second TSYS with only 15 CC Freq's, there exist several TGRP that are close by & I monitor frequently from my home. Of those 15 CC freq's, there are none that are close by & none that show up usable on a manual scan/analyze.

Should I duplicate some of the freq's that are close by, from TSYS 1 to TSYS 2 freq list?

I was once told to avoid duplicates...

Duplicating in same TSYS is unwise, but it's ok in second TSYS to use some from first TSYS.

A better method for local scanning would be to be very selective in the site options prior to import. E.g., select only those CC and Alt CC of sites you can pickup and try to keep the frequency number with the 32 allowed by scanner and if necessary, opt out of alt controls. Then you can collect all 915 talkgroups or even select those you know will fit within the control frequencies selected.

Have the above available as a v scanner. Then have a second or third v scanner of other options of the same system should you travel to other areas in LA.

You guys have a challenge.

Thanks, Frank,

I put a few duplicates (3) from TSYS 1 at the bottom of the list of TSYS 2. It's working well -

Thanks again for your assistance,

JP
