Washington Parish Louisiana Scanning
Has Washington Parish Louisiana changed something for scanning. I live in Washington Parish and have not been able to pick up an WPSO, BPD or FPD activity in about a month. I was able to pick up activity on the Covington Tower but can't seem to get anything going off the Sheridan or Wilmer Tower. Any advise would be appreciated.

The LWIN has been changing/rotating to new CC's on all sites due to slight system changes. Please do a search for new CC's/alt CC's for the towers and submit the new ones you find. I am updating the DB as fast as new info comes to us.

Washington Parish Scanning
Ok, I am an ametuer scanner. How do I search for alternates? I have a 396T so do I turn the CC ON and to try to find these other Control Channels. Also, do I need to be Searching or Scanning? Any help would be appreciated.

Search the 700 band for active CC's and note the freq. Then see if it matches any listed info for the sites your monitoring. I believe the Uniden 396/996 series will give you the site info once you get the freq set up correct??? If so then if you find a new CC for the site, place it in your CC rotation and scan in CC only.Oh yes, tell us the new CC and, or alt CC so I can update the information in the database here. TY!

David, Do you have the new LWIN settings? The old LATIE system has been replaced. I got the best results by using the wildcard for the talk groups within that system. A wildcard search will usually reveal the most active stations if you have patience to fish for them.
What type of scanner do you have?

I have a 396T. I did download the current information from last weeks posting on the tower changes and started picking up a good bit more information. I don't know that i am getting everything that I once had but I was getting nothing for a while. I will try the wildcard search and see if that helps pick up any additional information. Thanks for you help. I will try to let you know how it turns out.

After downloading the new tower frequencies I am receiving some WPSO, FPD and BPD activitiy. It seems like i miss some of the conversation and that may be that I am only using the antenna that came with the scanner. I also may be off on some of the other settings that may need to be adjusted. I haven't tried to do a wildcard search because I am not 100% sure I know how to do that without messing up what I already have going. I will try it soon to see if I can get a little more activity.

Hi. I'm a complete newbie. We have the Bearcat 996xt and we haven't had any activity in quite some time except WalMart.
Question: you said you got some activity after downloading the new frequencies. Did you find these frequencies in the database under the LWIN link? And, what about the IDs; are they the same?

Yes, the are all on the database at the bottom where it has LWIN. I pull off the Sheridan and Wilmer Towers. To my knowledge all the TGID stayed the same. Once I got the tower frequencies right, I started receiving the activity. You can probalbly just use the control channel and the two or three alternate channels if you just want to try it before loading them all up. it worked for me anyway.

Just what I was looking and hoping for. Thank you so much David. Now to figure out how to manually program the frequencies. LOL
