Question 800 MHz "help!"

Good Afternoon....

The temperature's is 70+, the Sun is shining and their is a light wind here in the Shreveport area. We are expecting more rain later tonight or early Monday morning. Sniddy-rot-ah-futz! <Secret way to cuss>.

I hope all is well with each of you and your families. I'm recovering from the flu, after I got my flu shot. (??????)

Now, I know most of you live in S. Louisiana and are paying attention to the LA. WIN stuff on 700 MHz. I don't have a scanner, as yet to monitor this and they are finally working in North Louisiana on the 700 MHZ network here. They say, it appears that it will take a year to eighteen months to get it operational You'd figure that since they put it together in South Louisiana, it would go together the same way. But then, this might be a Govement Project which means 10 years from now, .

But, I have a question concerning the 800 MHz frequency assignments for some licenses. For instance: WNII-533. It has transmitter sites listed in Rosepine, (Vernon); Jena, (La Salle); Ringgold,(Bienville) and Bridge City,(Jefferson). IF I program my scanner with all the frequencies, will I get ALL the radio traffic from each transmitter site? I'm really NOT interested to listen to Jefferson, Vernon, La Salle parishes, unless there is severe wx there or a possible disaster (I pray not). The F.C.C. ULS database doesn't list control frequencies, so it's hard to know what to program in my R$ Pro-95.

Can someone enlighten me as to what to do to only receive Ringgold and leave off the others? This can also pertain to the State's new LAWIN set-up as well. Are they ALL going to be interconnected? I can see having the ability to check with other nearby areas for possible flight of a subject, but a car chase in Ringgold would not certainly need the help of those in Cameron Parish, maybe Webster, Bossier or Bienville, but not near the Gulf,

Doing database work as I can and still packing and moving.

Thanking you in advance,
GOD BLESS,
73,

Don/KA5LQJ

Firstly, Bossier SO is using the LWIN. Not as much as thier own system, but they have been logged. As for the system your refferring to... The LA State 800 MHz TRS... Is only still used in the northern Parishes... You just need to program in the Control Chans for each site and the talkgroups your interested in hearing. You will NOT hear ANY traffic from South LA as they are all running on the LWIN. For more data on the old 800 MHz system see here-
State of Louisiana - Legacy Analog SmartZone Trunking System, Statewide, Louisiana - Scanner Frequencies

You will get traffic locally from users still on it, which are mainly LSP up north. In areas that have active LWIN sites, youll get of course, state agencies, and local agencies that are on it. The areas that are now on LWIN do not use the old 800 anymore. the entire LWIN project is almost complete, with only a few sites left to come online. By the end of this year all sites are expected to be active. As for other local systems the PRO-95 is a good scanner for most of the older systems. For full listing of active LWIN sites see here-
Louisiana Wireless Information Network (LWIN) Trunking System, Statewide, Louisiana - Scanner Frequencies

I also am recovering from that flu bug... Funnnn...
Welcome to the family. Any other info you need just ask.
