Default Found ops on 418.6250 mHz today

I was near Stennis Space Center in Waveland MS today scanning for their TRS which happens to be in the Government spectrum of the UHF band (406mhz-409mhz) and while I was doing that I expanded my scan range to go up to 420mhz.

That is when I came across a very active 418.6250 mHz using a repeater. Sounded like a Motorola repeater too. Anyhow the comms were very interesting.

One male was providing information which sounded like he was "tailing" someone. It took several minutes (about 45 min) of listening to determin they were in the New Orleans area because the one person doing most of the comms was giving locations out like I-10 and which lane his target was in and then mentioned exiting at Bullard Ave. I knew right then that they were in NOLA. The signal was only about 2 bars of signal on my s-meter. Whoever it is has a very wide coverage repeater for me to be hearing operations in New Orleans from Waveland MS on an 800mhz antenna on my car.

Oh I heard further info detailing that they were following their "CI" which is confident informant, and they also made reference to what I believe were drugs ready for delivery. My first guess is DEA.

Does anyone know who in the New Orleans area uses 418.6250 Also I got a PL tone of 156.7 Hz on them too.

And if you weren't aware of it, well now you can add that one to your list, because they were in the clear and it had a lot of activity today.

thanks, Jimmy!

I guess I should look before I leap... After posting that I went to the DB and looked at the federal govt. spectrum in Louisiana and sure enough, DEA's primary channel is 418.6250 R. if the maintainer of that db reads this you can add 156.7 hz for the pl for that freq.

That was fun listening to them. 8)

418.625 used to be v-e-r-y active with DEA in NOLA, but I stopped listening after they went encrypted. Glad to hear you were able to monitor some clear comms!

yeah it lasted for like 2 hours at least. And then I kinda headed back into Biloxi and even though I could still listen to them it was too stratchy so I gave up.

That Frequency is ative at times in Mississippi. The DEA has a repeater in Wiggins, you should be able to hear them from time to time on the coast.
