Default Ltr ?

Oh wise ones. At work we have a LTR system, to include various Id numbers. How or why do certain Id numbers always show up on the same frequency? We have four frequencies programmed into the radios we carry. How does this constitute a trunking system if the same frequency is always the same Id number? Also one of the channels went down the other day and after the radio tech went to the repeater room, he said all he had to do was reset the computer and the down channel came back on line. What is he referring to?
Thank You in Advance for any Information which may help me to better understand this system

LTR works a little different than other trunking systems. An LTR system has a group of frequencies set in a logical channel number sequence between 1 and 20 (a four channel system could use any four of the 20 channels, and generally it will not be 1 thru 4). A group will be assigned to a home channel and their communications will default to that channel/frequency. However, if the channel is busy the radio will move to a different avaialble channel//frequency and operate automatically.

This is different from Motorola type trunking where every radio transmission can appear on any available frequency that the controller assigns. The controller of course whether LTR or otherwise is basically a computer that controls the radio traffic/channel/frequency assignments.

Default Ltr ?

Thank you for the information. A couple other questions if you have the patience to answer. Why would the computer stop working and need resetting at least once a month and only our #1 home channel be affected. No other channels. Also would the lack of keeping the unit cool have anything to do with it. I am in Vegas and the computer is located on the 19th floor of a tower that has 42 floors?

All electronics are prone to failure, and needing reset that often would seem to indicate a problem especially in the channel, but the problem could be anything. Many radios function in extreme temperatures and conditions, but I would think a 42 floor tower would have A/C to at least the 19th floor!

If your "computer" which is more commonly referred to as and LTR Controller, has to be reset every month, you have a bad controller. Most sites never need to be reset like that. We have more than 100 channels on the air and don't have that kind of problem.
