They don't come out with that many firmware revisions unless a problem is apparent or they sometimes add features, you shouldn't do it except for a good reason--It is about the same as any programming change as far as the time it takes.
If it is done wrong, it could turn the radio into a brick. I have never changed the firmware on a 380 so it must be pretty good. The newer ones of course have newer firmware.
By the way they are phasing them out for the newer, smaller models now.
