How does LTR work?

Ok, compared to Motorola and EDACS type systems, what's the DL on LTR?

How does it differ? Motorola uses Control Channels, and EDACS uses LCN numbering to function properly, but how does LTR work?

I've never heard it in action, and have never observed it's operation on my scanner. There aren't too many LTR systems floating around here in Kentucky, and I was just wondering as to if anyone could give me a crash course on better understanding it?
