Default LTR system question

My area is using an LTR system that has just became active recently.
here is the system: http://www.radioreference.com/module...me=RR&sid=5373
Now my question is this, it is quite evident that LCN 11 is 460.025 and we are all still
trying to figure out the system, but I also here EVERY transmission on 453.6125, which
is listed under the Newport site, that is taking place on the Sevierville LCN 11 freq.
What is up with this? Anyone have any ideas?
If more info is needed, just ask.
Thanks for your help
Danny N4YEK

let me update: not EVERY transmission is heard, the talkaround id isn't heard, only the sheriff is heard.

Could be a conventional channel which is being simulcast. Quite often, 1 or 2 conventional channels are part of an LTR license. Are you seeing TGID's on this freq when you sit on it?

You see the sheriff talkgroup id, but thats all I have noticed so far. This is something I discovered last night. The sheriff's old freq is now part of the LTR and is the HOME channel for ALL talkgroups I have seen so far. (460.025)

Well, all talk groups you have identified so far are LCN 11, except 0-02-227, so that is what will happen. However, I wouldn't expect to see such high ID's (227, 140, 200, etc) as the 1st one's you find. With a small system(5-6 ch), you should be able to find some more LCN's fairly quickly. Are you using RS or BC scanner(s)?

I am using the Uniden BC 780XLT scanner.
Like i stated before, I am new to LTR so bare with me if I ask questions that are
quite obvious to others.
As for the high talk group id's, they are the actual id's being used.
The id of 0-02-227 isn't one I have heard, it was sent by email to me by
someone else so I can't confirm that particular id.
It is possible the id he saw was one of those "noise id's" you can see pop up
from static. I see them sometimes myself.
I did find another LCN channel though, this is what I have so far:
LCN 1 = 460.1125
LCN 11 = 460.025
LCN 14 = 451.075
This leaves me 4 freqs left to find the LCN for, and one of them possibly
being a conventional freq simucasting as you stated.
I found LCN 1 Saturday with a talkgroup of 0-01-170 heard, unknown agency though.
If 453.6125 is being used as a conventional frequency doing simulcast, would it ever be used in the
LCN rotation?
If not, then I don't have to worry about trying to find an LCN for it, correct?
Again thanks for your help.

With the 780, you have to put the LCN's in the proper position in the bank once you find them. Sounds like you have a good handle on LTR already, but just in case: http://wiki.radioreference.com/index..._an_LTR_System

In all the systems I monitor, the conventional channel(s) are never used for LTR. As the Wiki says, the remaining 3 or 4 may more difficult since they may be unused, GOTO only, etc. Suggest you start monitoring the 3 you have in the ID search mode (with them in proper channel position). See how often you miss something, and get a better handle on who is using what ID's. Then try the 1st method mentioned in the Wiki.
