From what little info I can find, try www.sji.biz there is a support phone number on that page. That's where I would start. It would appear from what I've read that there is additional hardware inside the radio. One would have to take it apart to see I guess....there was a RR thread dating back to 6/02....http://www.radioreference.com/forums...p?t=452&page=2 that was talking about passport (around msg. #30)... maybe one of those guys in CT could help you out. Good Luck

If the radio has PassPort firmware in it instead of Kenwood standard production firmware, you will need to use SJ-180 programming software, KPG-89D software will not work.

If you flash the radio back to Kenwood standard firmware, you can program with KPG-89D, but PassPort systems will not work.

Just in case you were going to use it to unofficially scan a system, your radio ESN needs to be in the systems computer in order to get the traffic (unless they have a workaround out there yet)
