Default TK-3180 help

I got a TK-3180 that is asking for a password either reading or writing the radio, is there a way around this so the radio can be programmed?
Send me an email sg14ranger@yahoo.com

Thanks

If you got it legally, ask the who or wherever you got it from for the password(s)

There is no easy way to get around it. The older radios would let you overwrite, but not that one.

There are 2 levels of password protection. Obviously, you are at least on the first.

1: Read Password--prevents unauthorized reading
2: Write Password--pervents writing over the radio with a blank or other codeplug

If your radio is password protected on the write level, you have a paperweight.

Not true at all, the factory depot can reset the password. You need to go thru a Kenwood dealer for that.

You can also replace the flashprom, if you do that you will need to reload the firmware, reporgram and retune the radio. I have never sent one in yet, I just repalce the prom.
