Default Tropospheric Ducting Today 4-21-2008

Hi everyone,
Well, it's after 11pm here and I still am getting tropospheric ducting on the civil aero
band. I first heard it around 3pm this afternoon. I wrote down which freqs I can hear
the ground transmitter from and used Google Earth to get the distance from me to
the transmitter site.

118.500 St. John Radio - St. John, New Brunswick 250mi.
ALSO on 118.500, Hanscom AFB Tower (KBED) - Bedford, MA 90mi.
123.900 Moncton Center - Yarmouth, Nova Scotia 212mi.
125.050 Pease A/D (KPSM) - Portsmouth, NH 42mi.
125.925 NY Radio Oceanic - Barnstable, MA 131mi.
128.375 Moncton Center - Yarmouth, Nova Scotia 212mi.
128.400 Pease Tower(KPSM) - Portsmouth, NH 42mi.
128.750 Boston ARTCC - Barnstable, MA 131mi.
129.900 NY Radio Oceanic - Hyannis, MA 131mi.
134.100 Brunswick NAS Clearance/Delivery - Brunswick, ME 30mi (This comes in
most of the time, just has been very clear today)
135.200 Moncton Center - Yarmouth, Nova Scotia 212mi.

By looking at the freqs, most are East and South of me.
My wife came home from work and said she was having trouble hearing an
FM radio station in her car that was located in Portland, ME (6 mi. away)
yet she was getting Boston stations booming in. I had that problem too
early this morning.

Hi Ed,

There's been a great band opening for a few days now in our area. I was listening from Cape Cod last night to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in St. Stephen New Brunscick on 155.910 186.2, along with many other stations both to the north and south. A group at my website is into tropo DX, and we usually place our loggings in this forum there:

Hopefully this will continue for the next few days with the stationary high pressure sitting off the coast.

Hello Scott,

Thanks for the link to your discussion group. I've read some and it's really interesting
seeing how far everyone is hearing. Hopefully this will stay a few days like you said.
I would like more time to see what I can hear but I will be away from all the radios
tomorrow. Will have to pack the Pro-97 and listen when I can on my travels.
