What frequency are you listening on? 154.205?

I can't help ya by listening, but I might be able to work you through some troubleshooting.

Hi Scott,

I am on 154.205. I hear the apparatus responding to calls and hear portables all ok. I no longer hear anything from dispatch. I think they are being dispatched by Waterville Comm but I don't know if it's a different freq. or not. This just started a while back.

You should be able to hear everything. I believe WTVL Comm and all units run off the repeater with the output of 154.205.

Do you hear all the mobile units at the same signal strength the same as you used to? If you have a PL tone on, try turning it off.

Default Waterville FD

I took the PL off and I still do not hear dispatch. I heard them Wednesday responding to a call and then clearing but no reply from dispatch.

I also was having a problem with another town as far as hearing the dispatcher. The audio was always cutting in and out. I took the PL off and now that works fine!

Ok folks, I heard Waterville units again last night loud and clear but no dispatch. Can someone confirm that dispatch is still using the same freq as the rigs and portables????? Seems strange to me that I can hear the rigs and portables but not dispatch.

sorry i am located in the mid coast so i cant pick them up but looking at the database they still do run off of 154.2050 with a PL of 151.4. It may be that your just out of the signal power range. But I don't know I will talk with someone that I know and see what they can come up with.

Thanks Eric. I don't believe that dispatch is running lower power than the rigs and portables.

Thanks guys. I heard Waterville last night again. They called base and I heard that fine. Dispatch is still dead here in Brewer. Should that be "Colby College"?

It could be because of the distance since you said Brewer, I just looked it is about 61 miles from Brewer to Waterville. I don't know about Colby College since like I said I cant even pick them up.

Don't go mixing up Unity and Colby! There's a bit of a rivalry there.

How do you know for sure you are hearing Waterville? Are you hearing street names and other locations in Waterville mentioned? I see Monroe also is on the same frequency, very close to Brewer.

The answer is in! Comm and Fire base are running simplex, therfore the portables and mobiles are running off the repeater. This would explain why you only hear the trucks and portables in Brewer. I plugged in the input freq of the repeater when they just toned out a call, and nothing until rescue signed off at the scene.

Not knowing the Dept, that is one avenue.

But remember, they could also be using Telephone line to the Repeater as well, and you would never hear the Dispatch on the input.

Many of my Local PDs remote directly into the Repeater, which also allows them to DISABLE the Repeater and become a Remote Base, still hearing the units on the input.
