Default Montgomery County Police Incident..

While on a walk monitoring MoCo DFRS 7-B at approx. 1500:

Canteen unit responding to a "prolonged" county police incident;
Did not catch the street and can only monitor the 2 VHF simulcasts, the canteen was told to go up "over the hill and you'll see the county police command bus".

Later at 1530, CANTEEN 705 responding not sure if this is the same incident or replacing the other canteen.

Sorry I don't have detailed info as I was walking and reading the newspaper and listening to the radio at the same time also not having a paper and pen.

Anyone with more info?

Jay

Default Canteen

1559:
MONTGOMERY: TRUCK 712 IS CANTEEN 705 ON THE SCENE
TRUCK 712: CANTEEN 705 IS ON THE SCENE

Just as the 'other' CANTEEN unit cleared back in quarters.
^ might have been 709

Judging by the units, it sounds like an upper Montgomery County incident.

Related? 1612: AMB 725B per county police; IN SVC.

Wonder if the police presence was related to this.

SILVER SPRING, Md. (WUSA) -- The suspect sought by Montgomery County police for injuring an officer during a traffic stop in Burtonsville Thursday night, is is police custody.

Police say Banks' family members coordinated efforts for him to surrender to police, at about 11:00 a.m. today at the Fort Washington medical center. He is receiving treatment for his injuries and is in police custody there.

The officer who was struck is still hospitalized, but his injuries were described as non-life-threatening, and police say he is in good spirits. Police identify him as Officer Kevin Reese, a seven-year veteran of the department.

According to Lt. Paul Starks, a team of officers initiated a traffic stop at Castle Blvd and Briggs Chaney Road around 8:18pm. As police were talking to the driver outside of the vehicle, a passenger slid over into the driver's seat and pulled away. An officer tried to gain control of the vehicle and was struck. According to police, the officer did discharge his weapon.

Police have found the vehicle involved in the traffic stop, but did not immediately find the suspect. They spent Thursday night and Friday morning canvassing the area searching for the suspect, who was identified as Nicholas Banks of Silver Spring, Md.

Police say officers searched Banks' Castle Boulevard residence around 11:30 Thursday night. Banks was not home but officers did find evidence indicating Banks may have been injured and may have been wounded as a result of the officer firing at him during the assault.

Officials tell 9NEWS NOW detectives will charge Banks with attempted 1st degree murder, attempted 2nd degree murder, attempted manslaughter, 1st degree assault, 2nd degree assault, and 2nd degree assault against a law enforcement officer.

Investigators have interviewed and released the 59-year-old Silver Spring man who was originally driving the vehicle and the 26-year-old rear seat passenger. Both subjects have not been charged at this time.

There was a high school girl on the roof of one of the high-rise apartment buildings at White Oak (New Hampshire Avenue and Route 29), believe she was threatening to jump. Not sure how and when this resolved itself tho. This occurred Friday afternoon and evening, began about 1300 I think. The exact location was either 11215 or 11235 Oak Leaf Drive, I forget which (3-building complex called The Enclave - I always want to call it The Autoclave for some reason. The 3rd building is 11200 Lockwood Drive). High-rise Box 12-7. Incident extended late into the evening at least.

Update, just talked to my buddy, the girl came in from the roof around 1130 that night, was tired of being wet (it was raining a little bit) and cold, xported to WAH.
