Armed bandits led police on a wild chase with shots fired Friday afternoon after an attempt armored car heist on Powder Mill Rd at Allview Dr in the Calverton area.

When it started around 3:40 p.m., police gave chase, and that is when shots were fired, and the driver’s side window of the suspect vehicle was broken.

One man is reportedly armed with a rifle and another with a handgun.

The chase continued, and police briefly lost track of the suspect car, but later found it on Manheim Ave and Baltimore Ave in Beltsville.

Minutes later, police learned that one of the suspects forced his way into a house in the 5000 block of Lexington Ave. The occupants safely escaped. An officer shot one suspect in the 11500 block of Queen Anne Avenue around 4:40 p.m. The SWAT team is now on the scene.
