Default New non-standard LTR trunk in Allegany Co.

call sign, WPRI785

The trunk is a non-standard LTR trunked system owned by Two Way Radio inc.The LCN order cannot be identified, and the users unique ID's will not identify.

Users of the system are county police and school buses, along with business users. Any help from my friends on additional information for this trunking system would be appreciated. Wmbio

Default New LTR System

Hello again,

This is another of those wonderful TWR adventures using the PassPort system. It's not a traditional LTR system and it's the type of system they are pushing the county Fire/EMS into using. I'm not to the full understanding of what the system is setup like or is capable of but I'm learning more all the time. Since the system is PassPort you won't be able to get LCN numbers or unit ID's because of the way it works. Hope this sheds a little light on what's going on.

Thanks, Ambdrvr.
I just got the word it is a Passport system.
Look in the WIKI and search for LTR, it describes some details on a Passport system. I do not see any radios that can track this system for now, maybe GRE or Uniden will have a software fix for Passport one of these days. I'm not holding my breath for a software fix.

Default New LTR....

My question for this system is, why are two of the counties agencies using a commercial system when the school board just got licensed their own UHF frequencies to operate on and the new police should be looking for their own system. From what I've heard the county doesn't want any of their entities using commercial systems due to safety concerns but obviously that's not the case any more. I think it's kinda fishy if you ask me, just another way for TWR to get their fingers into the counties pockets for the new radio system. Just my opnion for whatever it's worth.

Default Allegheny

Just my two cents, but having experience with Morgan county finally gettting rid of the LTR junk that was pawned on us over 15 years ago, it is very difficult to free your self from the TWR influence. We used their 800 system for over 15 years with nothing but problems, now finally on a VHF public safety system. I thought Allegheny had a conventional UHF system licensed?

Radar,

Look at Allegany county and you will see many brand new UHF channels that are operational but nobody is using them!!!! They were paid for by state grant monies. Why would you ever put a police agency on a business radio system, privately owned? Makes no sense to me.
