Post 01.09.2009 - 328.300

Had an interesting one earlier this afternoon:

1918Z-1925Z 328.300 MCAF Quantico TWR - sounded like a repeater - TWR wkg NIGHTHAWK 43 and SEAHAWK 02 ready for dep. rwy 20. Tfc advisory re: H-60 inbound (maybe NH43?). Had that repeater quality sound to it.

VIPs enroute to Norfolk.

AF-2 departed a short time ago. Heading south with ZDC-Calvert. SAM-4076 is heading the same way too.
AF-2 barely went above 10k and is already descending. The AF-2 pilot has some sort of accent.

0858- BOXER-40 C-40 02-0202 heading into Norfolk. 126.05 Displaying BOXER44.

0923- AF-1 is on the way.

0930- SAM-4106. 118.95
0932- To ZDC-Linden

1055- NAVY-101 heard calling base ops on 307.0 but it sounded off-freq. No Navy planes showing on the RB.

1500-1530 All the VIPs are returning to Andrews
AF-2 followed by AF-1, then NAVY-101 163691 and NAVY-100 166376.

Default CG & Inauguration

Guys,

Got this off the Scan-DC list:

News Release

Coast Guard to establish a security zone for the presidential
inauguration

BALTIMORE - The Coast Guard will establish a temporary security
zone in designated waters of the National Capital Region for the
presidential inauguration effective January 14 through January 25,
2009. At certain times during this period, security zone enforcement
may limit or prohibit navigation by commercial and recreational
waterway users.

The security zone will include the Potomac River from the
Francis Scott Key Bridge (U.S. Route 29) down to a position
approximately two miles south of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. The
security zone will continue west on the Virginia shoreline to a
position near Jones Point Light and east on the Maryland shoreline,
including the Georgetown Channel Tidal Basin. The security zone also
includes the Anacostia River from the New York Avenue Bridge (U.S.
Route 50) down to its confluence with the Potomac River.

While enforcement of the security zone may change due to
unanticipated developments related to the presidential inauguration,
the general enforcement plan is as follows:

1. Beginning on January 15 through January 17, 2009, the
security zone will be open to all commercial and recreational marine
traffic, but movement of commercial and recreational vessels may be
restricted as inaugural events dictate. Restrictions will be
broadcast and law enforcement assets will be on-scene to ensure
vessels do not enter areas impacted by inaugural activities. Any
recreational vessels in the zone must either moor or depart the zone
each day prior to sunset. Any recreational or commercial vessel
entering or operating within the security zone during this three-day
period must contact the Coast Guard Patrol Commander via marine-band
radio VHF Channel 16 or by phone at (410) 576-2693 prior to entering
or operating in the security zone; moreover, all such vessels should
prepare to be boarded by the Coast Guard.

2. Throughout January 18 until 11 p.m. on January 19,
2009, the Coast Guard will prohibit recreational boaters from entering
or operating inside the security zone. Recreational boaters moored
within the zone must not move unless given specific authorization by
the Coast Guard Patrol Commander. Commercial vessels with prior
approval from the Coast Guard Patrol Commander may operate during this
period.

3. Beginning at 11 p.m. on January 19, 2009, the Coast
Guard will prohibit all vessel movement until inaugural events have
concluded. The Coast Guard Patrol Commander will broadcast closure
information on VHF Channel 16. Opening of the waterway is anticipated
during the early morning hours of January 21, 2009. The Coast Guard
Patrol Commander will broadcast the opening of the waterway.

4. From the opening of the waterway on January 21 through
January 25, 2009, the Coast Guard will allow recreational and
commercial traffic to operate in the security zone as inaugural events
permit.

For vessels seeking authorization to enter or transit the
security zone, contact the Coast Guard at (410) 576-2693 or via
marine-band radio VHF channel 16.

Post Re: Citations

Hi Brian,

Just FYI, there are Cessna Citation Service Centers at both Toledo (TOL) and Stewart (SWF), along with Greensboro (GSO) in our "immediate" area.

1305 CAFE 23 on Boston Ctr 124.520 says completed our AR and going to Syracuse.
Could be next group of 52nd FW F-16's coming in today as HURON 91.
1325 A/A 143.475 1,2,4,6. One pilot talking he once did Noble Eagle duty in this area before.
1330 HURON 91 req direct Shaw 257.700
Supposed to flight of 6 but departing Europe one Huron developed engine trouble and did
emergency divert to Leuchars RAF base in Scotland and one wingman went along as well.
1333 HURON flight pushes 327.800

1343 COLT 1 flight on Philly appch 323.100 no joy.. thats different.
1343 COLT 1 on Dover appch 257.875
1358 A/A 246.800 at FL 280 asking if we are in Continental airspace.I don't think they are MD ANG choppers.
says his ground speed is 330.Yakking like Marine Corp pilots with salty language.
Says with Wash Ctr and asks trailer to come up on Ch 29X-Ray which is 246.800.
Trying to stay out in warning areas to get direct Jax sounded like.Maybe Navy P-3's

I didn't see it mentioned but all those VIP flights into Norfolk are for the christening of a new aircraft carrier - The George H. W. Bush - at the Norfolk Navy Yard.

Guys,

Upon reflection I think that the Sabre 07 callsign was actually Vader 07 and it sounded like one of the VAQ-209 EA-6Bs. Looks like they're into a "Star Wars" rotation for their callsigns i.e Jedi, now Vader

JENA-622 N596GA has departed Manassas. Is transmitting ADS-B! It has a crappy transponder.
Req FL170 final alt.
1514- To ZDC-Woodstown. Sounds like they'll be returning before too long.

Hi guys,

87-0139 is the GTV C-20, so it's a good bet from what I saw Friday that this will be our TROUT 98.

Best regards,

AE13E6 going into Davison. Having trouble understanding him, mainly because he's saying it so fast. Sounded like he said something about Navy transponder and C-12.

1945- Crap, it snuck out without RB alerting me and it was at 17k before I knew it.

2000ish- CONVOY-3033 heard w/ ZDC-Brooke. Showing C-9B 160050 a few minutes later.
