A couple more.
Should out of area files be included as well...the more common "Highway Traveler" type files, or other out of area jurisdictions (I have Atlanta, Denver, San Diego, Boston, Orlando)
And what was the decision on the p96 files?...I have some of those too.
I plan on acquiring a used server this summer and going online with at least two of my scanners (mont co / fred co local and mil/comm air) and making all of my radio files available with a detailed description of what each covers.....I'm also seriously considering adding a RadarBox, but I'm not sure it would be of any benefit to the existing users in this area.
I would appreciate anyones thoughts on the matter.
Paul

Excellent!!
Actually, When this thread started, I asked the powers to be, to rename it "local scanner files".
It would be good if all files could be shared here regardless of the type of scanner. Just specify what scanner the files apply to when uploading.
And as far as highway traveler stuff, I would say it's all welcome.
To the moderators...Can we still rename this thread "Local Scanner Files" ?
Mike

Hi
New to this...but interested in what is happening with MD SP? Are they still on low band (I don't hear too much traffic) or have they moved to another system? If moved, can anyone share the data?

They use 800 in some locals, but they are for the most part still on 39 mhz. That little duckie is highly inefficient at these frequencies (especially if it's in a car), so to hear somewhat more a better antenna is needed. You didn't say in what environment you are using the radio...and in what county you are located...

You pretty-much pass right by the Forrestville and College Park barracks so you could snag a transmission even with the hand-held antenna. I've done it once or twice.
In case you're not familiar with MSP, it's not normally very exciting to listen to anyway (in my opinion only).
95% of it is traffic stops or disabled vehicles.
I use this BNC mag mount and put my hand-held antenna on it.

and you may skim the Rockville barracks area in Montgomery county, especially if you are running that thrice-blasted DC beltway (did it for many years!).
Anyway, the MSP freq list is here...
Department of State Police Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference
and come to think of it, depending on the route you take, you would be in Howard county for a bit, and Fort Meade is in Anne Arundel county. I hear MSP Waterloo frequently on the Howard county system as well as on their 39 mhz freq, and MSP Glen Burnie has a couple of analog talkgroups on the Anne Arundel trunk. I also hear them frequently on their native 39 mhz outlet.

Travelling to Baltimore this weekend!
Hello,
So the P500 file dated 1/09 is probably as good as and possibly better than what is on the RR DB? Just wondering. Would anyone have a newer p500 file I could try?
I built one from the DB and doing web searches, but I like the way the one on here is set up.
Thanks for he help!

Unfortunately, I haven't updated that Win 500 file since I posted it here. I just don't have the time these days.
I'd like to get an updated file also, if anyone has one.

Here is my DC area file. It extends from Spotsy up to Howard and AACo. I deleted some things that werent relevent so you could add another system or two on the MD side. The only weakness really is Loudoun and PG due to their new systems.
Apparently I didnt catch all the nonrelevant stuff...there are some conventional frequencies in folder 19 that dont apply to this area.
