Default AA County Fire Companies

Here's My list of AA county Fire Company Numbers and apparatus gained by listening, surfing the web, and seeing fire trucks around the county.

For anyone in the know, why are numbers 8, 14, 15, 16, 22, 24, & 25 missing?

Why are companies 4 and 5 both at Waugh Chapel? Is there any apparatus belonging to Company 4?
Why the multiple series in Annapolis and BWI?

Station 8 is covered by Stations 40 and 3; box area 8 is in 40's first due from what I've heard. It must have been a station that was consolidated.

Stations 14, 15, and 16 were all in the Pasadena/Solley/Riviera Beach area; I had an OLD county map that had them all, I'll have to go digging find it again to get the names. They are covered by 10, 11, 13, 20, and 30 now.

I'm not sure about 22, 24 and 25; I'm sure it's the same kind of situation.

That's an excellent list you've compiled; I used to keep the same kind of log. In fact, I even googled myself a while back and found some old Usenet postings about AA County Fire before I moved here permanently. Maybe it was one of you guys on here that helped me out way back then!

BWI has two stations as far as I know; on of them is Mid-Field off of 170 and the other is somewhere closer to the terminal I think.

I re-read your post and saw you had part of this info, but I'm leaving it in:

Annapolis has (at least) 3 fire stations hence the different station numbers.
35 is on Forest Drive at Bywater Drive; one is on Taylor Avenue at Ridgely, 36 is Eastport (used to be Eastport volunteers). I think... may have them mixed up. 37 and 38 I'm not sure of; 37 may be a closed station. 39 used to be the Water Witch Hook and Ladder back in the day. There were also the Independent Fire Co. No. 2 and the Rescue Hose Co. No. 1 both in Annapolis.

Apparatus additions:

Engine 192 is also known as Air 19... the county Air shop is at Station 19 and 192 is Air Cascade.

Station 30 also has Ambulance 308 as a second BLS unit.

Station 31 has Truck 31. They cut the staffing though, they can only respond the PM and the Engine or the PM and the Truck... not both so Fire Alarm has to choose... water or ladders... for now.

Station 32 has Paramedic 32 and Engine 321 at the very least.

Station 3 has Squad 3.

Station 5 is the divemaster's headquarters; there is water rescue apparatus there, as well as (and it's been awhile since I heard a water box toned) the divemaster being either Divemaster 5 or Dive 5. I think it's also a Special Operations unit.

Special Operations 1 is housed at Station 23.

BTW, for those of you wondering where i came from, my old SN was AACoFN... but on with some corrections...

**ENG 301 and 304 do not exist, same as AMB 308 (ENG 303 and AMB 308 were given to station 13 when station 30 went all paid)

**due to station 30 giving all this stuff to 13... station 13 also has ENG 133 and 134... also has had PM 13 for some time

**station 31 has a truck, though you will rarely hear them dispatch it

thats all i can think of right now...

Future station 8 will be in the Bay Ridge section of Annapolis. I believe Tanker-35 is owned by AACo, and operated by AFD due to the need for coverage in 8's area.
Co#14 "Green Haven VFC" & Co#15 "Powhatan Beach VFC" merged to form Co#30 "Armiger VFC".
Co#16 "Lombardee Beach VFC" dissolved and joined with Co#11 "Orchard Beach VFC".
Co#24 was the "Seventh District Rescue Squad", now part of Co#41 "Avalon Shores VFC".
4 "Millersville" , 22 "?" & 25 "Severn" should be future companies.

If I made an error, please advise!

Thanks for the corrections and updates!

I think I'll gather everyone's info and put it into an HTML page and throw the link in here and keep it updated... so keep the info coming!

I've got a TON of hosting space and I don't use it for anything, so this would be a good project and let me brush up on my web skills.

Maybe I'll even get the initiative and make a map showing station locations.

Okay here's what I have. Some of the information may be dated. I will be able to update it in September.

Box Area Maps are a bit in depth so there is nothing web based. The county uses a CAD (Computer Aided Design) program to make the box maps for each stations first due area to include hydrants and some landmarks. It is then left up to each station to update their maps, make details of each indivdual box area (details of each community, etc.) to make finding locations easier.

The coordinates given at the end of every dispatch are also used so the unit can locate the call in the ADC map book. Some stations even transpose those grid locations onto each box area map. (They know who I'm talking about... ;-). Which does make life easier at 3 o'clock in the morning.

Alright, I've got a preliminary set of pages up and running.

Please give them a look-see and let me know what you like and dislike, as well as sending corrections either here or through the contact link.

Let me know especially if you find it too hard to read or navigate.

The side navigation on the stations page does not work yet, other than that it's pretty much done besides scanning some of my photos and a map.

As I am reminded or remember things. I will post.

Fire Boat 61 is docked at the Sandy Point Marina. I'm not sure if Boat (just boat) 60 is still in service or not. The units are staffed by Station 19. And are, or used to be, staffed with a crew on days such as holidays weekends when their is a high call potential.

I believe they consider it unoffically/offically as Station 60? I can't confirm that yet.

Their are a number of specialized pieces located in different stations to include things like MR-20 and MR-13 (Mobile Rehab) the old MTA buses located at those stations.

As I get reminded of them I'll post them. Or if anyone can think of any please post.

30 has a dive unit (30) and dive master stationed there, and I belive Batalion 2 may be stationed there now as well. The reason that there is no station 14 and 15 is that station 15 (Powhatton Beach) used to be on Solly Road and stationed 14 (Green Haven) used to be on outing Ave. A few years back they combined the two into one station and that became station 30 (Armiger).

13 and 11 both have Paramedic units now and I believe that the Quint replaced the truck at station 10. Station 31 has a truck. I think the BWI station is 43 there may be a 42, I'm not sure. Hmm I think that's all I can come up with right now. I

Co#11 has not has a paramedic unit since 1999. PM11 was the last volunteer operated paramedic unit in AACo. Battalion 2 has been stationed at Co#30 since 1993. Station #14 was on Duvall Hwy, that land now has 3 houses on it.

Just a few corrections to some posts above.

Station 11 Orchard Beach
There is no special unit 11 or boat 11

Stations 4, 22 & 25
4 was a proposed station at headquarters in Millersville.
22 & 25 were paramedic units (chase cars) that were stationed at 18 & 28 respectively. They have since been disbanded as those numbers.

Station 8 is a proposed station on the Bay Ridge peninsula. This box area is currently covered by stations 35 & 36 with assitance from 40

The new Severn station due to start construction this summer is rumored to be #4 with an Engine and Paramedic unit.
